Jobs for recent college graduate?

Hi recently finished my undergrad in statistics and am on the look out for jobs. Machine learning/ data science is a field I am especially excited in getting into. However, it seems that most of the positions are only for those with Masters or Phd. The ones that don't seem to deal more with the data engineering aspect. I was wondering how most people got their first jobs in data science.

I'm located in the SF Bay Area so there are plenty of Data jobs around here, but I am looking for some guidance on how to get hired in this field .
