Considering a career in finance with a focus in machine learning

I was thinking about going into finance with a focus in machine learning. What kinds of jobs would be available? Are those jobs are cutthroat and miserable as I hear they are? Would I only need a Bachelor's in CS from a low rank CS school or would I need a graduate degree as well? Thank you.
