I graduated this July, with a 1st from King's College London in Computer Science and I am struggling to find work, like most grads, so I have recently decided to look more into Machine Learning and Data Science as they are two areas that interested me while I was studying. However, while browsing for ML / DS jobs, to get an idea of which technologies I should invest time in learning, I had noticed that almost all require a Masters degree in a related field. As someone who is very unlikely to be in a position where I can afford to do a Masters degree, despite my best efforts, I wondered if there are any of you in the industry that took a more 'hobbyist' approach to getting in the industry, how you did it and if you have any tips for people like me.
I recently purchased 'Machine Learning for Hackers' - Conway & White and recently enrolled in the Coursera ML course as they both seem to be the mostly commonly suggest resources. I would love to know if you guys agree.
