Any suggestions of recent (say at most ~5 years old) of ML papers that are (or you think should be) highly influential?

I'm feeling a bit like I've just been reading papers from my narrow interests and that of those around me but I'm looking to branch out.

It'd be awesome too if you'd say a bit about why you think the paper is/should be highly influential.
