Compiling a list of awesome ML papers

I thought it would be cool to collect a list of some really awesome (maybe even a few "lay person" accesable) research papers on the topic of ML. I wanted to open it up to the /r/MachineLearning community and see what papers you found really interesting. Here are two I thought were pretty interesting:
